Writing is like any other sort of sport. In order for you to get better at it, you have to exercise the muscle.

Writer’s Notebook is an essential component of writing time in my classroom. I ask students to use their notebooks daily: to think in writing, to experiment and play; to imitate passages of beautiful or creative writing; to solve word meanings through context clues and play with new words in sentences. We exercise our writing muscles.
Using the Writer’s Notebook tab, you will see passages, sentences, and suggestions of ideas for Writer’s Notebook time if you do the same with your students.
